Guarantees
Last Updated: June 23, 2026
Effective Date: June 23, 2026
Knot is built on the principle that design work should be dependable, professional, and entirely yours. These are our commitments to every Customer. We believe that specific promises with defined scope and honest limitations is our responsibility with Knot.
Design quality commitment
The Promise
Every design delivered through Knot reflects professional-grade creative execution by a dedicated human design team. We do not outsource your work to unfamiliar freelancers or produce low-effort outputs. Work is reviewed before delivery. If a completed Deliverable does not reflect a standard of quality consistent with your submitted brief, we will redo it without requiring a new request.
Scope
Applies to all Deliverables produced in response to a Design Request that includes a reasonably clear and complete brief submitted through the Platform.
Limitations and Exclusions
Design quality involves subjective judgment. This commitment covers professional creative execution, technical accuracy, and reasonable alignment with your stated brief — not subjective aesthetic preferences that were not communicated in the brief or that changed after work began.
Requests submitted with vague, incomplete, or contradictory briefs may result in Deliverables that require revision to align with unstated expectations. The quality guarantee applies to designs that meet a clearly stated brief, not designs that must first interpret an unclear one.
This commitment does not guarantee specific commercial outcomes, consumer response, or the achievement of any particular business result from the use of a Deliverable.
Deliverables that have been substantially modified by the Customer after delivery are excluded from this commitment.
What to Do
Submit revision feedback through the Platform. Describe what specifically does not meet your brief. If multiple revision cycles do not resolve the issue, contact us directly at support@app.knotdesign.ca and we will escalate.
Dedicated team commitment
The Promise
You work with a consistent, professional design team throughout your subscription. Your team develops familiarity with your brand, aesthetic standards, and preferences over time. This is a retained relationship, not a one-off transaction.
Scope
Applies to all active subscribers across both the Regular and Supercharged plans.
Limitations and Exclusions
In the event of team member illness, leave, or other operational circumstances, temporary coverage may be provided by another Knot team member who has access to your project history, brand assets, and prior work. Continuity of context is maintained through the Platform.
Knot does not guarantee a specific named individual will work on every request. It guarantees professional, context-aware service from a team that knows your account.
Intellectual property ownership commitment
The Promise
You own the final designs Knot creates for you, in full, upon payment of applicable subscription fees. We do not assert copyright ownership over Deliverables created specifically for your account. You may use your Deliverables commercially, modify them, register them as intellectual property, and license them to third parties without restriction from Knot.
Scope
Applies to all original Deliverables produced by Knot's human design team and delivered to your account through the Platform, where full subscription fees have been paid.
Limitations and Exclusions
Background IP and pre-existing assets: Knot retains ownership of its pre-existing design tools, templates, reusable component libraries, design systems, and other background assets that may be incorporated into your Deliverables. You receive a perpetual, royalty-free license to use any such Knot background elements as they appear in your Deliverables.
Third-party licensed elements: Where Deliverables incorporate third-party licensed assets (stock photography, icon libraries, commercial typefaces) selected at Knot's or your direction, those assets remain subject to the applicable third-party license. We will identify any such elements where practicable.
AI-assisted components: Deliverables may incorporate AI-assisted elements — such as AI-drafted copy or AI-generated design directions that were later refined and executed by Knot's human designers. The legal status of purely AI-generated components is subject to evolving law in your jurisdiction. The creative execution by Knot's human team is owned by you. We recommend independent legal review for any Deliverable you intend to register as intellectual property in a jurisdiction where AI-generated content is a relevant question.
Condition on payment: Ownership of Deliverables is conditioned on full and continuous payment of subscription fees. Knot reserves its rights in work produced during periods of non-payment pending fee resolution.
Portfolio display: Knot retains the right to display your completed Deliverables in its portfolio and marketing unless you submit a written opt-out request. See the Terms of Service, Section 27.5.
Unlimited revisions commitment
The Promise
Revisions are included in your subscription at no additional charge. We will revise a delivered design based on your feedback until it aligns with your original brief. There is no limit on the number of revision rounds for a given request, and no revision surcharge.
Scope
Applies to all Design Requests submitted through the Platform where feedback is provided through the Platform's revision and comment system.
Limitations and Exclusions
Each revision cycle resets the turnaround timeline for that Design Request.
This commitment covers revisions to an existing concept based on the original brief. It does not cover changes that constitute a fundamental shift from the original brief — for example, switching from one deliverable format to a completely different one (e.g., from a logo to a landing page), or abandoning an approved direction entirely in favor of a new concept. Such changes may be treated as a new Design Request at Knot's reasonable discretion, with a clear explanation provided.
Revision requests that are vague ("I don't like it — redo it") without specific, actionable feedback may require a follow-up conversation to clarify direction before work begins.
Knot reserves the right to decline revision requests that are repetitive without new direction, abusive, or otherwise unreasonable.
Response time commitment
The Promise
Design Requests submitted with clear, complete briefs during active subscription periods will receive a first delivery within approximately 24–48 business hours from the time the request moves from "Queued" to "In Progress." We communicate proactively if delays arise.
Scope
Applies to standard Design Requests with complete briefs on both the Regular and Supercharged plans.
Limitations and Exclusions
Turnaround times are averages based on typical request complexity. They are good-faith targets, not contractually guaranteed delivery windows.
Requests in the queue wait until a concurrent active request slot opens based on your plan tier. Turnaround time begins when a request enters "In Progress" status, not when it is submitted.
Complex, large-scope, or multi-deliverable requests (such as comprehensive brand systems, multi-page websites, or full pitch decks) require longer timelines. We will communicate estimated timelines for such requests upfront.
Turnaround is affected by the completeness of information provided. If your brief requires clarification before work can begin, turnaround time starts from when that clarification is received.
Revisions reset the turnaround timeline for the active request.
Knot does not guarantee turnaround times during force majeure events or periods of infrastructure disruption outside our control.
Transparent billing commitment
The Promise
The price you are quoted at subscription is the price you pay. There are no hidden setup fees, project fees, file fees, export fees, revision fees, or feature access surcharges. Your monthly subscription fee covers all standard Services described in your plan.
Scope
Applies to all standard features available under the Regular and Supercharged subscription plans.
Limitations and Exclusions
Subscription prices may change at renewal with at least 30 days' advance written notice, as described in the Terms of Service Section 12.2.
Any services outside the standard subscription scope — such as custom integrations, expanded SLA commitments, or bespoke arrangements — will be communicated in writing and require separate agreement before any charge is applied.
Applicable taxes (such as Canadian HST/GST) may be added to the subscription fee based on your billing location. These are government-mandated charges, not Knot fees.
Currency conversion fees applied by your financial institution or Stripe are outside Knot's control.
Cancellation flexibility
The Promise
You can cancel your subscription at any time, without penalty, without a mandatory phone call, and without being required to explain why. You retain full access to all Services through the end of the paid period following cancellation. Cancellation takes only a few clicks in your account settings.
Scope
Applies to all active subscribers on monthly plans.
Limitations and Exclusions
Cancellation after the 7-day initial refund window does not entitle you to a prorated refund of the current billing period. Access continues through the period end.
Account data (Design Requests, Deliverables, AI conversations, chat history) is retained for a reasonable period after account closure as described in the Privacy Policy. You are responsible for downloading or exporting Content and Deliverables before your account becomes fully inactive.
Confidentiality and discretion commitment
The Promise
Your business information, design briefs, uploaded files, Content, and completed Deliverables are treated as confidential. We do not share your specific project information, brand strategy, or business context with third parties for their own purposes, and we do not discuss your work in public forums.
Scope
Applies to all Content submitted to the Platform and all communications with Knot's design team.
Limitations and Exclusions
AI Feature processing: Using Knot's AI Features requires transmitting your prompts and relevant context to third-party AI providers (Google Gemini and Groq). These providers are contractually bound to appropriate data protection obligations, but they operate under their own privacy frameworks. See the Privacy Policy for full details.
Portfolio display: Unless you request an opt-out in writing, Knot may display completed Deliverables in its portfolio and marketing materials as representative examples of its design work. Opt-out requests are honored promptly. Portfolio use does not disclose your business strategy, brief content, or other confidential context.
Legal process: Knot may be required to disclose information in response to lawful legal process, court orders, or government requirements.
Standard subprocessors: Knot's infrastructure providers (database, cloud hosting, file storage) access your data as necessary to operate the Platform, under contractual data protection obligations.
This commitment does not constitute a bilateral non-disclosure agreement. For specific NDA arrangements, contact us.
Data security commitment
The Promise
Your account, Content, and Deliverables are protected by technical and organizational security measures appropriate to the sensitivity of professional business data. We treat your data with care and maintain security practices consistent with reputable SaaS standards.
Scope
Applies to all personal data and Content processed through the Platform.
Limitations and Exclusions
No security system provides absolute protection. Despite our controls, security incidents may occur.
Security of your own devices, credentials, browser environment, and network connection remains your responsibility.
This commitment does not constitute a specific security SLA, penetration testing guarantee, or warranty against breach.
In the event of a material security incident affecting your data, we will notify you and applicable regulatory authorities in accordance with applicable breach notification law.
What We Do
Our security controls include: TLS encryption for data in transit; encryption at rest; row-level database security limiting data access by user identity; HMAC-signed share link authentication; bcrypt-hashed share passwords; rate limiting to prevent brute-force attacks; audit logging of AI agent actions; scope-restricted file storage policies; and regular security review processes.
AI transparency commitment
The Promise
We are transparent about when and how AI is used in the Platform. AI-powered features are identified as such. We do not represent AI-generated content as the professional opinion of human experts, and we do not use AI to secretly replace human design work — Deliverables are created by Knot's human design team.
Scope
Applies to all AI Features within the Platform.
Limitations and Exclusions
AI models are operated by third-party providers (Google LLC and Groq, Inc.) and may have inherent limitations, biases, factual errors, or outputs that are unexpected or unsuitable for your specific needs. These characteristics are outside Knot's direct control.
AI-generated content (briefs, analyses, style profiles, overviews, recommendations) should be reviewed before use. It is not professional advice.
AI model behavior may change over time as providers update their models. We do not warrant consistent AI output characteristics across model updates.
The AI agent may make errors in judgment or produce incorrect action proposals. You are responsible for reviewing and confirming or rejecting all AI-proposed actions before they are executed.
General terms applying to all guarantees
These Guarantees are Knot's good-faith commitments to Customers and are part of our overall service relationship. They represent how Knot intends to operate and what Customers can reasonably expect.
These Guarantees do not supersede, and must be read in conjunction with, Knot's Terms of Service (in particular the disclaimer of warranties in Section 38, the limitation of liability in Section 39, and all other Terms). In the event of any conflict between the language in these Guarantees and the Terms of Service, the Terms of Service govern.
Nothing in these Guarantees creates warranty obligations, service level agreements, or liability exposure beyond what is set out in the Terms of Service. These Guarantees do not limit the applicability of Knot's limitation of liability provisions.
These Guarantees apply to standard subscription services and may not apply to beta features, experimental capabilities, or custom arrangements.
If we fall short
We want to know when we have not lived up to these commitments. If you believe Knot has failed to honor any guarantee on this page, please contact us directly at support@app.knotdesign.ca and describe the specific commitment you believe was not met. We will review your concern and work to make it right.
